AdoptionMOTHER & CHILD PROGRAMSFounded by Mother Teresa, the Missionaries of Charity work tirelessly to help the "poorest of the poor". Missionaries of Charity homes for abandoned children & homeless pregnant women in Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC and San Francisco. PERMANENT HOMES FOR FOSTER CARE CHILDREN Partnering with other organizations dedicated to helping children that are lost in "the system". EducationAFTER SCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAM/LITERACY TRAINING Partnering with the Reverend Cecile Murray Educational Center of the First AME Church and the Los Angeles Urban League, The Noel Foundation is supporting literacy and job training programs for the children of south and east Los Angeles.EDUCATION THROUGH TRAVEL PROGRAMS Partners: Los Angeles Urban League, Challengers Boys and Girls Club, Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, Rosa Parks Institute. We created this program in 1992 in cooperation with partners from the travel industry to take underprivileged children from diverse cultural backgrounds on motorcoach tours through America to experience our nation's cultural and historical heritage. In 2000, we partnered with The Rosa Parks Institute in a program called "Pathways to Freedom" visiting the "Trail of Tears" and the "Underground Railroad." TEACH FOR AMERICA Partnering with Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation to provide specialized training for teachers of children in under-resourced urban and public schools. TSU CHI FOUNDATION DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM The Noel Foundation provided funds for support of victims of domestic abuse in Los Angeles. SPECIAL OLYMPICS Assistance in funding sports events for individuals with mental retardation in an effort to improve and enhance their lives and to educate the public. OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INNER CITY KIDS Funding of scholarships for economically disadvantaged minority children from low performing schools to attend private schools in Los Angeles. EnvironmentalCHILDREN'S HEALTH ENVIRONMENTAL COALITON "CHEC"The Noel Foundation funded "CHEC" and Olivia Newton-John’s initiative to protect children's health from dangerous chemicals in the environment. Health CareCITY OF HOPE PEDIATRICS CRITICAL CARE FUNDThe Noel Foundation established a fund for children without insurance, combating life threatening illnesses, HIV/AIDS, cancer and diabetes. DR. KEITH BLACK CANCER RESEARCH PROGRAM, CEDARS-SINAI The Noel Foundation provided funding support for the Neurosurgical Institute at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, led by neurosurgeon Dr. Keith Black (Time Magazine's 1997 "Hero of Medicine"). Dr. Black has made groundbreaking discoveries in the treatment and prevention of cancer. Research and treatment for cancer and other neurological disorders of the brain. NATIVIDAD MEDICAL FOUNDATION IN CHILDREN'S COUNTY HOSPITAL, SALINAS The Noel Foundation provided funding for mother & child health care for the poor without insurance and support for sexually abused children. LATINO CHILDCARE PROGRAM The Noel Foundation partnered with the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation and providing funding for three classrooms in the economically disadvantaged Florence District of Los Angeles. This will provide the necessary child care of which there is a critical shortage thereby providing education for the children and enabling families to work and improve their economic condition. S R O HOUSING We work with retail stores and restaurants to provide supplies and meals for Skid Row families. We recognize the desperate need for providing proper medical treatment and vocational training for persons suffering from mental illness. The need for affordable housing for economically disadvantaged families is critical in the urban areas of Los Angeles. Programs addressing these needs are ongoing by The Noel Foundation.
